About Us

Alaskan and Proud, an independent Southeast Alaska company, was founded in 1987. The first store opened in Ketchikan. Our company has grown to include a liquor outlet and four stores ranging in size from 7,000 square feet to 43,000 square feet. We employ 220 associates in the communities of Ketchikan, Juneau and Thorne Bay. Our corporate office is located in Ketchikan.

Alaskan and Proud's largest asset and greatest strength are its people. We pride ourselves on providing our customers with the finest produce, meat and dairy products available. Our grocery selection is second to none and includes a large selection of natural and organic products. We strive to deserve our cutomers' business and we work hard to make our stores a great place to shop and work.

About the Communities We Serve

Southeast Alaska is a temperate rain forest. There are no roads in or out of Ketchikan or Juneau. Access is by Alaska Airlines jet service and the Alaska Marine Highway. Thorne Bay may be accessed by float plane and the Inter-Island Ferry system. Ketchikan and Juneau have great medical facilities, with limited options on the Price of Wales Island. All three communities have good school systems, and branches of the University of Alaska are located in Ketchikan and Juneau. This area is also an outdoorsman's paradise with its many opportunities for angles and hunters. Skiers will appreciate Juneau's Eaglecrest ski area which features both downhill and cross county skiing.
